WHAT A DAY!
10:00 am Still trying to get to Lauterbrunnen
I spent the morning and early afternoon in Heathrow airport’s Sapphire Club with Roger drinking coffee, eating and watching our flight be delayed. His company and great conversation has turned a frustrating day into a pleasant one. Finally boarded at 2:19 to be informed of another delay. BUT they passed out Swiss chocolates. I wish Bill was here so I could have his! 🤤 (I wish he was here for other reasons too. )

Made it to Zurich. Much to my surprise and relief my checked bag made it also! I was sorry to say goodbye to Roger. It’s funny how quickly you can make friends with someone over the course of 24 hours.
On to the train station. Without Roger I needed a little help deciphering the schedule but a very nice gentleman helped me learn to read the schedule and signs.

Train ride went well until it just ended before the last stop. Who knows why. But they had a bus for us to take. But it broke down. I can’t make this stuff up! Eventually I got to Lauterbrunnen but because it was so dark I couldn’t see the landmarks to find my hotel but I found it fairly easily. When I walked in the door, the receptionist burst out, “I’ve been so worried about you. Are you ok?” Such a great feeling. She knew who I was immediately without me identifying myself and had been expecting me. (I was 9 hours late). She even offered to fix me something to eat.
But wait! There’s more. When I went to open my suitcase that had 2 locks on it when I left home, one lock was completely gone along with the pull and the other lock was so jammed the case wouldn’t open. So I spent 30 minutes with 3 other ladies getting my suitcase open. Two of the ladies didn’t speak English, I don’t speak German and the fourth was bilingual. Determination is a language all its own. It’s past time for me to go to bed. Peace out.
