Lauterbrunnen to Murren

Today I hiked as far as Murren

Hotel Blumenthal

The day started out overcast and on the chilly side. It warmed up and the sun came out late morning to early afternoon. Then it clouded over and started to rain. I made it to my hotel before the thunderstorrm.

My first stop today was at Trummelbach Falls. On the way , I passed a beautiful cemetery. Each plot had its own flower garden. I didn’t go in and there was a sign saying no photos allowed inside the cemetery

The area I covered today is known for BASE jumping. Scroll in to read the sign. I saw floaters all day. No thank you.

There are so many waterfalls everywhere you look but Trummelbach was something special. It is difficult to describe so I’ll put in some pictures so you can get an idea.

Here’s how it looked inside. The noise was deafening. Made me think of a mammoth enclosed twisty waterslide.

When I emerged from the falls the sun had come out and I began my ascent to Gimmelwald. It was about 4 miles and an ascent of over 2,000 feet.

All the trails are so well marked even I can’t get lost (yet)

Now for the final 1.5 mi push to Murren and another 900 feet of ascent.

My smart watch said I put a total of 11 miles in today. I feel it.

A delicious little treat I discovered - soft gingerbread with apricot filling covered in dark chocolate. Delightful.
