Let’s do this!
Let’s do this!

Thanks to all of you who have encouraged, supported and believed in me since I first hatched this idea. Special shout out to my dear friend Kea. She was the first person I shared this idea with. When I asked her if I was crazy to even consider this, she enthusiastically said NO and jumped in my corner. She’s also the one who showed me that three weeks of gear can fit in a backpack and carryon! Love you Kea!

See you in Zurich.
See you in Zurich.

I made to my first flight with just a few glitches. I had to go through security twice and I set off an alarm in the airport. Doesn’t anyone have a sense of humor anymore? Big win was convincing TSA to allow me to carry on my trekking poles that don’t have a sharp point (after intense examination and cajoling on my part). And for the record, so far I haven’t lost anything. My son Bryan drilled PPW into my head - phone, passport, wallet

Everything went south in Philly. We sat on the runway for 40 minutes for unknown reasons so I missed my connecting flight to Zurich as did my new friend Roger. We first met in line in Indy. Since our flight doesn’t leave till 10, Roger invited me to be his guest at the Sapphire Club. We had dinner and talked quite a bit. When Roger retired he, sold his house and belongings and now travels the world as a house and pet sitter. He’s on a month long assignment in Switzerland. How cool is that!

So the current plan is fly to London, have a 4 hour layover (brunch in Sapphire Club?) fly to Zurich and take the train to Lauterbrunnen. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. Deciding to go a day early was an extremely good idea.
